Occlusal Reconstruction / Oral Rehabilitation

This procedure is required where due to prolonged habits (usually excessive grinding and clenching and can be at night when you don't realise your doing it) or trauma patient's bite and teeth have changed to such a degree that there are problems occurring with the "jaw mechanism".

It can also be a problem where there is a "collapse" in the bite due to missing teeth especially more than one. This is sometimes manifested as jaw aches, frequent headaches, clicking jaw joints, even neck pain and face ache.

In this case we take impressions of your teeth and then use wax bites to be able to bring the two models together as you do naturally.

We then set these up in a mechanical jaw (Fully adjustable articulator) that replicates your movements of your jaws and using this we will renew the so called normal range of movements by restoring the teeth in the size and shape required so when you chew, glide, close or grind your teeth over one another the movements that have to be done by the jaws to accomplish the range of movements fall with in the normal range.

In most instances curing the headaches, jaw aches and face pains among other symptoms and signs. This kind of treatment is not done quickly and in some cases can be treatment required over a year or more. The restorations are a combination of crowns, normal fillings even bridges or partial dentures even implants - the idea is the total reconstruction with all these mechanisms to restore the original dentition of the patient's.
